Hi my name is Xiomarie Rivera and I’m 19 years old. This is my second year at Lehman college. I’m majoring in Psychology to become a Guidance Counselor for either Middle schoolers or High school students. Some people tell me that it’s going to be a stressful job and try to make me change my mind but I want to work with kids or teenagers. I am Puerto Rican but I was born and raised in the Bronx. In my household you have to speak Spanish because most of my family members don’t understand or speak English. I am taking this class to improve in my Spanish, both writing and speaking it and also because its one of Lehman’s requirements.
Hello my name is Cesar Zuniga I am a Junior at Lehman College and my major is recreational therapy. Both my parents are born and raised in El Salvador but I was born in the United States. I am a college athlete here at Lehman College where I am in on the swim team, my main event on the team is 100 meter butterfly stroke. Just as it looks like I spend most of my time in the water I am a lifeguard and swimming instructor for people of all ages and I make sure that all people are safe in and out of the pool which I would also love to my Knowledge in the water to help people in recreation therapy.

My name is Frances Fabian, its my third year at Lehman College. My major is Computer Science because my uncle has inspired me and this field doesn’t have a lot of females in it. I want to change that because I know I could be useful in this field. I’m very social person or that’s what people tell me when I interact with them. I’m very involved with my community by helping the youth. I go by three different names (Frances, Diana or Franchesca) because each name means something to me. I’m Dominican but I was born and raised in Washington Heights. Fun fact: I was born in a hospital elevator.
Nick: I’m a 19 year old junior here at Lehman. In between high school and now, I’ve had 5 teachers for spanish and yet I still struggle to speak it since those teachers were not the greatest. I would say that I know how to speak, read and write in spanish, but I still need help with grammar and punctuation. Hi guys, I’m Angelique and I’m about to be 24 on Sept 5 (yay me😒). I’m a senior, this is my last semester and my only class until I graduate with a BS in Accounting 😪. I am Belizean 🇧🇿 which means my first language in English but like most countries, there are many different types of people. So my family does speak Spanish and there was a time I knew Spanish but it was never reinforced at home. So I really hope to improve because I do want to be able to relate and articulate well in Spanish to peers, family and others. I do love animals, I have 3 cats and a dog. I enjoy listening to music and have kinda become addicted to Tiktok 😅. In the future, I want to sort of venture into Computer Science and I want to have my own business.

Hola! My name is Alyssa Iglesias and i’m 18 years old. I am a sophomore and my major is nursing. Im from the Dominican Republic so I am familiar with talking Spanish however my Spanish is a little messed up with the conjunctions. When I was little I used to say “Yo no sabe”. I fixed that though. I really want to perfect my Spanish as I get so embarrassed to talk it. My boyfriend is the opposite he only likes to talk Spanish because he is embarrassed to talk English. He talks in Spanish and I respond in English. I only talk Spanish if it is completely mandatory. I love to shop and go out with loved ones. I hope this semester goes very smoothly and does not stress me out.

I started my college journey at SUNY Plattsburgh, but after my freshman year I transferred back home to Lehman. My name is Christian and I am a senior majoring in Accounting. This is my final year at Lehman so I am looking forward to finally getting my diploma. I am 25 years old (oof, time goes by fast) and I started school back in 2012 at a SUNY college, and transferred to Lehman in 2014. Since then, I switched my major multiple times until I took a two year break to do some soul searching. I came back in 2018, changed my major to accounting and have been doing great since then. I am also a tutor here at the ISSP center, helping students with Accounting/Economics. I enjoy cycling, reading, and just generally improving myself little by little. Although this class is a requirement, I do look forward to improving my Spanish since I think it’ll be beneficial to me in my future endeavors.
